It's time to start revealing all of the hard work we have been up to in our new home.
It's been a work in progress and a bit overwhelming at times, but we are in a much better place now.
I knew this room had a lot of potential, the 'bones' of it looked pretty promising. We had the task of tearing the wallpaper down & painting it from top to bottom.
And that is exactly what we did..
My father-in-law graciously took every piece of the lovely wallpaper
down.
The steamer proved to be a really awesome purchase.
The paper
literally fell off the wall after it was steamed.
Pretty amazing.

Then my very sweet mom painted this room. It wasn't as easy as it seemed to be though. When she started painted, the paint bubbled up in some areas from the leftover glue residue. It was such a mess. We had to sand down the paint, then take a soapy rag and clean ALL of the walls to remove the glue layer.
Lesson learned if we have to remove anymore wallpaper in the future (which we better not have to!).
After the walls were cleaned, the painting went much more smoothly.
And here is the final product..

The paint color is Pebble Grey from Glidden.
Oh yes, much better.

It's absolutely beautiful!! Great work. Megan
I love how you put the pictures on the wall. They are so vibrant next to the grey! :-)
wow, it doesn't even look like the same room. I love that color of grey. I was hoping you would mention the color.
What a big project that must have been! You did a beautiful job, and I'm in love with the wainscoting! I'm sure you'll have many memories in this room. :)
Blessings,
Leslie
It looks fantastic! I love the color you chose!
Beautiful room Lindsay! I especially love the gray! We've also stripped wallpaper and it's something I hope to never do again :-)
Lovely transformation and I love the soothing color you chose for the walls. Thanks for sharing. Patti@OldThingsNew

Looks like a whole new room!! Hats off to you guys! Looks great.
I have been waiting for these types of posts because I knew I wouldn't be disappointed! What a great room...LOVE the colors!
PS I think we might have the same lighting fixture :-)
Love it! We have the same wainscoting in our dining room, and I've been thinking about painting our walls something lighter like RH's Silver Sage. You just gave me an idea of how it might look!
wow, it looks soo much better! :) That wallpaper and cleaning of the walls sounds like a nightmare. Worth all of the hard work though!! It looks so pretty and clean.
Wow! I love the gray, and the white woodwork is fabulous!
love the paint color. I feel the pain on removing wallpaper. I helped my mom about a year ago with hers and it was dreadful! Great job on the dining room :)
I love it! It is so serene and I am really jealous of your fabulous gallery wall! So pretty!
Take care,
Trish
It looks great, will you consider renting out mom and dad? I promise no wallpaper to remove, but I could use some willing painters.

So lovely! I've never had the horror of removing wallpaper, but I did have to sand and respackle the walls of our current home thanks to some sort of paper-mache paper bag technique the previous owners had super glued to the walls.
wow, Lindsay!! Your "After" pictures are incredible. Love the color you chose for your dining room.
Beautiful! I love the pictures of your kids on the wall too. So pretty!
Wow! I had no idea removing wall paper would be so hard! You all did an amazing job! Love, love, love it!! :)
It turned out lovely! So much work with the wallpaper removal!! I have a similar soft color in my dining room now and I LOVE it. Congrats on a beautiful "new" dining space.
What a difference! Looks amazing, Lindsay!
