Deco Art {Ink Effects}

I received a really wonderful package from Deco Arts with a new product called Ink Effects.  I had never seen anything like this, so I was so excited to try it out.  I love the idea of painting on fabric, but I am always a little disappointed with the stiffness that it creates. Deco Arts created this awesome product that leaves the fabric feeling just as soft as when you started.

The color pallet is so wonderful, lots of variety.
I really loved how the dot on the lid is how the actual color will look when finished.

I wanted to create a beach bag--with a little flair!  With Ink Effects, it does take some time to figure out how to use it, but once you get it down, you can master a project fairly easily.

Let me break it down for you--
Grab a blank piece of paper--it can even be a coloring book page with a blank image.

Paint the image that you want transferred--I chose to do bold stripes on a canvas bag, so I marked the lines on a piece of white paper with tape, then painted.

After you have painted & it is completely dried (at least 45 minutes), place it right-side down on the fabric, then with an iron on the highest setting & no stream, gently iron the image onto the fabric.

I ironed for a few minutes to get even lines.
Then lift the paper to reveal your design.

FYI--if your fabric is more than 30% cotton, you will need to use the Ink Effects Basecoat before you iron your design onto your fabric.
I used fabric glue to attach my fabric to the canvas bag

Tips I learned:
**I wanted my stripes to be bold, so I painted them 3 different times on my white paper, to get a very dark color.
**If you have a large area to paint, I liked using the sponge brush.  You will have to use a smaller brush for more detailed pictures.
**When ironing on the image, DO NOT leave the iron sitting on the paper.  It could burn the iron markings onto your fabric.
**It took me a while to iron my image on, since I wanted to get the stripes as even as possible.  You can check your fabric as you go, just place the paper back on the same as before.
**The painted image on the paper will look a lot darker then it will when you iron it on.

I added the little scrappy fabric flower for some color.
I'm happy with how my beach bag turned out, but I am even more excited about this cool new product.  Can't wait to use it again, already thinking of new things to make with it. :)
