Yay for Friday!
So happy to share the adorable Carrie with you. I may or may not like her even more because she has 'lovely' in her blog name. :)
Hey Southern Lovely readers! I am Carrie from Lovely Etc. and I am so happy to be sharing a bit of what I know with all of you.
I love rescuing vintage furniture cast-offs, making things beautiful, and creating meaningful art. But what I really know about is how to get what you want at a good old-fashioned yard sale. For cheap.
Here is how you can have the same awesome yard sale luck.
- Have a plan. Check your local newspaper and Craigslist to find sales that look promising. I look for estate sales, church yard sales, multi-family sales, or sales that list the type of things I am looking for.
- Head out early – yes this is a must! Most sales start at 7 or 8 and you really need to be there as soon as possible. The really cool stuff that is cheap will definitely be snapped up first.
- Have an idea of what you are looking for. Yes, you have to be flexible because you never know what you will find. But it really helps to at least have an idea of what you are hoping for. Otherwise, being surrounded by piles and piles of someone’s old stuff can be completely overwhelming.
- Don’t be afraid to ask if they will take less for something. A little bargaining is definitely expected at yard sales.
Now get out there and take some yard sales by storm!
And be sure to stop by Lovely Etc. anytime for lots of ideas of how to transform your yard sale finds and your home into something unique and lovely.
I don't know about you all, but I want to hit up a yard sale tomorrow morning. :)
Thanks Carrie!
