One day as I was browsing through Target, I came across this adorable place mat. It was on clearance for under $3, so I knew I just had to pick it up. I wondered if it could be turned into a pillow, since the color would look awesome in my front room.
So I bought it, and here's what I did..

To make this pillow, you will need a sewing machine.
I folded the place mat in half, right sides together, then stitched all of the sides but one.

I pressed the seam open, then flipped it right-side out.
Next I stuffed it with Poly-Fil, making it nice & fluffy.

Then I stitched the open end closed.

Yeah, it's really that easy. :) Gotta love Target clearance section!
And I think it fits in well with the rest of my pillows.

Loving these pillows, how clever to use placemats. Still enjoying following you:)
Lovely punch of color and I love yellow, especially for spring and summer.
I love it! Looks like some fancy, expensive fabric. I've always wanted to attempt to make a placemat pillow but I always end up forgetting to browse the placemat aisles when ever I am at a store!
Very cute! I have those same placemats! I just made a purse out of a placemat (a different one) and blogged about it... Here is the link!

What a great idea and it completes the set. Looks great! Thanks so much for linking up to Rustic Restorations Weekend.
That is one of my favorite things to do!!! I love Target for placemat pillows! ;) Looks lovely on your couch!!!
Love the pillow... my sister found the exact same placemat and wanted to do the same thing! Except she didn't use a sewing machine - the place mat is already two pieces of fabric sown together so she cut a small slit in one side, put the stuffing in and hot glued the fabric back together!
I love, love, love your placemat pillow! I need to keep an eye out for placemats at Target, they always have the cutest things.
wow, that goes perfectly with the other pillows! I never would have thought you could do that with a placemat. So creative!
This is so neat...your pillow turned out lovely. Thanks for sharing.
Great idea. I wish I could come up with ideas like that!

It's Perfect!! I love to find deals like that and then make something awesome out of it. Last year., I did the same thing but with tea towels - pillows turned out so cute. Stopped over from I Heart Nap Time Party. AJ@queenofmynest

It goes so well with your other pillows! It's funny how I look at everything as a potential fabric source now that I've got into sewing. Looks like you do the same too!

I love it!! I'll have to remember not to pass something up just because it's not in the form I want! That was a very clever idea and it looks great :)

Hi Lindsay,
Love this idea. I was totally expecting you to say that you used a backing fabric, but you kept it uber easy and just used the place mat as the front AND back. Even I could do that. I'll have to keep my eye out for place mats that match my living room now!
