What I Know--{Mine for the Making}

It's Friday, yay!
Which means you all get to read a fun post today, courtesy of one of the most down-to-earth, creative bloggers I know.

Hi there! I am so happy to be here today at Southern Lovely. Lindsay is one of the sweetest bloggy friends around, not to mention super creative. Don't you just her?
Well, my name is Kara and I blog over at Mine for the Making. I'm a momma to an almost 4 year old spunky, sassy, independent little girl and wife to my high school sweetheart and very best friend.
I love sharing the things I love... crafting, cooking, baking, momma adventures, DIY projects, and teaching ideas. I recently took a leave from teaching to stay home with my daughter and help my husband open a bakery/cafe'. Let me tell you... I ♥ being home with my girl, but I miss teaching. So I figure, why not let my daughter reap the benefits? Which brings us to this...

In my opinion, you do not HAVE to have a teaching degree or certificate to create teachable moments with your child(ren). Learning is all about experiencing and experimenting! Allow your child(ren) to ask questions, and if you don't know the answer...discover it together!

And creating those teachable moments do not HAVE to cost you an arm and a leg. There are TONS of resources right at your finger tips! Blogs full of fun kid-friendly learning activities, ideas, printables, DIY games, etc.

Teachers are all about sharing their ideas...trust me.

Here are a few teaching ideas I have shared at Mine for the Making:

Teaching and learning should be fun experiences for you and your child(ren). Providing opportunities of playful learning and exploring will encourage them to want to learn and try new things.

You can also check out my Teaching Tips & Ideas board on Pinterest for more great teaching ideas!

Thanks for hanging out with me for a bit, Southern Lovely readers! It's been fun sharing a little of what I know with you today!

You can find me on my blog, Facebook, Pinterest, and Etsy!

Thank you so much Kara! This was great! I can't tell you how much this actually helped me personally, since I am looking for fun ways to teach my 3 year old different concepts.
Have a great weekend friends!

I saw your blog link at The Sasse Life Sunday Social. The name got my eye because I too am a Southerner. I found we had even more in common when I started reading your blog. I too am a teacher and a mom. I teach early childhood education to high school students and am the director of the onsite preschool learning lab. I would love for you to visit Suppers, Youngans, & Thangs. I often post activites we are currently doing in the preschool and have recipes and crafts as well. I am going to be following you. I am very interested in your activites. I will be adding your teaching board on Pinterest to those I follow as well. Keep up the good work!
