Ever since last year when I saw these adorable stocking holders, I knew I just had to make some for the holiday. And then I came across this tutorial from Shanty 2 Chic, and I fell in love with their version of it.
So here is what I came up with..

Supplies:
2x4 wood (5 inches each)
Scrapbook paper
Mod Podge
Paint
Mini clothespins
Hooks
Jute
Sandpaper
Hot glue

First, paint the wood & let dry. Then cut & apply the scrapbook paper. Using Mod podge, paint a thin layer on the wood, stick the paper on, then paint another thin layer over the paper to secure it. Then sand the edges down to create a weathered look.
Next, glue your clothespins to the top of your wood.

I then covered the sides with jute, using hot glue. You may notice the jute is one continuous piece, that I just looped around on the bottom, if that makes sense. No cutting involved.

Then I attached the two pieces of wood together, also using hot glue. Wood glue or liquid nails would be a good alternative here, since they are probably a little more secure.

Finally, attach the hooks to the wood, and you are finished!

And the best part of all, adding a personal touch to it! These turned out better than I expected, and so perfect for the holiday!

I can't wait to show you the rest of my mantel! It definitely makes me happy. :)
