I came across an amazing tutorial for creating your own tights from Choose to Thrive. I could not pass up trying it out for myself--with a few changes. :)
How many of you throw out several tights for your little one(s) too often??
Yep, there is always a hole in the toe, a rip in the knee, and then they just have to go.
For this project you will want to SAVE all those beat up tights. :)
Start with old tights & woman's knee high socks (got mine at Target for $2.50)

For the rest of the tutorial, click here for step by step instructions from Choose to Thrive.
One thing I changed from the original, is the foot area. I found it easier to do it this way--

I turned the sock inside out, pinned and stitched the right sides together.

And there you have it! New adorable tights at a fraction of the cost.
And yes, I have already made several of them for my girls. :)

This is a GREAT idea! My daughters love tights and they're always ruined. This is also a much more affordable way to get the cute designs they're always asking for!
how cute and a fantastic idea! i never thought of up-cycling tights before!
I LOVE this idea! I have a little ballerina so we go through TONS of tights! Great idea.
That's awesome! Tights can also be so expensive and yet socks...not so much! I'm going to share this on my facebook page and pin it! Hope you don't mind!

Oh my gosh! Too cute!!
That's an awesome idea. Since their legs are skinnier than mine, do the socks get baggy?

So cute! This makes me want a few little girls ;)
Awesome idea!! Now only if I had a little girl...
Excellent Idea and totally cute!!!! Also, if it's just that the tights are too short or the holes are in the feet, they could potentially be made into leggings.. not tried it but I guess a small hem stitched with a zigzag stitch would work...?
These are so awesome!!!
This is such a great idea! Love that it is not only reusing the perfectly fine tops of tights, but you get all the fun prints! too cute, thanks for sharing!
What a great idea! You go through those tights so stinking fast...its great to be able to make them last a bit longer AND give them a new look!

I have a serious addiction to making baby leg warmers out of women's knee high socks. Now I know what to do with them once the baby outgrows legwarmers. With three girls in the house this is really going to come in handy :)
