So, what do you do with an entire stack of paint swatches??
We had plans to paint one wall in our master bedroom over the holiday weekend, so my very helpful husband picked up a few paint swatches for me--or more like 50. :) We ended up deciding to complete another project, so really the paint swatches were all for nothing--or were they??
Remind me not to start crafting at 10:00 at night. :) I got this idea in my head & I had to do it--immediately. It's a fault of mine, really, to do things quickly & not let a moment pass. I've seen several paint swatch projects, that have been really inspiring. I knew I wanted to do something along those lines one day, which just happened to be yesterday. :) As you know, I recently completed my rosette felt pillow, so I was still in that thought process. Hence, this little baby was born.
Here it goes..
paint swatches
scissors
circle to trace with
canvas
hot glue gun

I started by cutting several circles. Then hot glued them around the canvas, forming a circular shape. I continued gluing them until I spiraled all the way to the center.

And this is how it turned out! What do you think?? It's kind of different, but kind of pretty, right?!

Oh, and the picture frame needed a makeover. I spray painted the outside a dark brown, and the inside yellow. I sanded the edges of the frame, so the gold-ish tone popped through. I have to say, by not having a clear direction of where this project was going, I am very pleased by the outcome. :)

Before & after

By the way, do you happen to notice the newly added trim work to the lower half of the wall?? Yeah, that was one of our Labor Day projects that I will post soon--and also the project that replaced the painting of our bedroom wall. :)

Ps--Hope to see you Wednesday for Show & Share #5!

Lindsay, you are so creative! I pilfered a bunch of paint chips not long ago & need to put them to good use like this. Great job!

Lindsay, I am the same way. I get an idea and I have to do it right then. Last night I started making a burlap banner at 10:30 PM. Ridiculous! But I would have laid in bed and thought about it anyway...might as well just make it now! LOL!
Your artwork looks great! I love that you didnt like the paint swatches go to waste...always something you can do with swatches :) Cant wait to see your labor day projects!
Nicely done! I hear you on getting an idea, when I have one it clamors to be done til I just do it already. I'm collecting blue paint chips for my own project, this must be the season for paint chip art!
Love this idea! Might have to send the boyfriend to multiple hardware stores to get some paint swatches and try my hand at this craft :)
Love it, thanks for sharing

Great art using paint chips!

This is so cool! Great use of paint chips. And I know all about starting projects at 10 at night. It was about that time when I started my Halloween wreath, which meant I finished at 12:30 in the morning. Sometimes late night crafting has great results!
Love it! Thanks for linking up to Things I've Done Thursday!
