{DIY} Fabric applique

I am throwing a shower for a good friend of mine who just had her third boy. Since she doesn't need many new clothes or other things, I thought I would make something that was unique for her new little guy. This is what I came up with.

I saw a really great tutorial from Sew Woodsy about how to cut fabric using your Cricut. I've been wanting to try this, just didn't know how. It's super easy & the possibilities are endless. :)

Let's get started--

Baby onesie (or other piece of clothing)
Fabric (cut to right size & pre-washed)
Pellon Heavy Duty Wonder Under (or Heat n Bond)
Cricut or other cutting machine (if you don't have one, you can trace your pattern onto the fabric & cut)
Sewing machine

Since I used the Pellon brand, I placed the rough side of it to the wrong side of my fabric & pressed for about 8 seconds at a time. Make sure it is attached to your fabric in all places.

Pull the paper backing off

Now it's time to cut.

Cricut settings need to like be like this--
blade at a 5 (or 6, like I used)
lowest speed
highest pressure

Once it is cut, peel off from mat, and place adhesive side down on your onesie.
Next, take a damp cloth & place over fabric & onesie. Press for 10-15 seconds at a time. Again, make sure it is attached in all places.

Now you'll want to stitch it on with your sewing machine, to secure it even more.

And that is it! Pretty easy way to make a unique gift for someone, right?! I can't wait to try this out on shirts for my little girls & little boy, so many different options!
