Here is yet another sewing project that I did while visiting my in-laws. When my mother-in-law suggested making curtains, I was a little nervous, but these actually were really easy & turned out wonderful. Picking out the fabric was the hardest part, imagine that! :) We didn't choose this fabric until right before we were going to check out with different material. Funny how it worked out--so glad it did though. :)
Since I wasn't at home to get the measurements myself, I had to rely on my sweet husband to do all of it for me.
To get started--my husband measured the top of the window, down to the floor. Then I had to figure out how I wanted to piece the fabric together. I knew I wanted to incorporate yellow for dimension, the blue was sort of last minute, but ended up making adding so much.

Once that was figured out, I cut out the material.
**When making curtains with a pattern on the fabric, make sure to match the pattern on each one (starting at the top), so they look the same when finished.

Next came the sewing--
To piece them together, I placed right sides on top of each other, & sewed 1/2 inch. Then folded over & pressed, so the seam would lie flat.
For the sides, I folded over 1/2 in, and then 1 inch. Then pressed & sewed.
For the top, I folded over 1/2 inch, then 3 inches, depending on how thick your curtain rod is. Press & sew.

For the bottom, fold over 1/2 inch. I stopped there & waited until I got home to see how much to hem it. I actually ended up using the Heat 'n Bond that I purchased at Hobby Lobby.

And just like that, I have new curtains for our newly remodeled loft. It's funny how just adding these to the room, makes such a big difference.
